An applicant, whereas it is a university or an individual, becomes a legal entity once it signs an agreement, either as a public entity or as a natural person. As indicated in section 8.1 of the guidelines, a PhD candidate is eligible. Proof of affiliation would be sufficient as evidence. If an agreement is signed, payments will be done directly to the beneficiary indicated in the proposal, regardless of his/her contractual relation with the university.
02/05/2022
If a proposal is submitted by a group of applicants, then one of them should be nominated as leader/coordinator who will then submit the proposal on behalf of the group. In order to formalise this relationship, the other researchers/partners must sign a letter of mandate indicating who the Lead Applicant is. But this coordinator doesn't need to sign a letter of mandate.

The 10.000€ minimum to 30.000€ maximum limits apply to the amount to be financed by the EUIPO. Moreover this amount should represent maximum 80% of the total value of the project. For example, a 12.500€ project should have a cofinancing percentage of 80% in order to receive the set minimum of 10.000€.
But a project with a 100.000€ budget and a 30% cofinancing percentage, hence 30.000€ financed by the EUIPO, would be eligible. However, a project with a budget of 11.000€ would not be eligible, because being limited at 80% for the cofinancing, the grant would then be below the 10.000€ limit, at 8.800€.
03/05/2022
The letter of madate should be signed only by the partners. The coordinator should sign the declaration on honour on behalf of all the members of the group.
The legal entity and financial identification should be filled in and signed by the coordinator only.
