A registered Community design is valid for 5 years. It can be renewed for a maximum of 25 years, 5 years at a time.

Fee structure

There are three types of fees relating to a registered Community design (RCD) application: registration, publication and deferment fees.

Registration

230

Additional registration
Per additional design:

2 to 10 = 115

> 11 = 50

Publication

120

Additional publication
Per additional design:

2 to 10 = 60

> 11 = 30

Deferment of publication *

40

Additional deferment
Per additional design:

2 to 10 = 20

> 11 = 10

* You can request the deferment of publication of a design. This enables you to maintain your original filing date without going public straightaway.

The fees payable depend on two factors:

  • Whether the application contains one or more designs.
  • Whether the publication of designs will be deferred or not.

The fee structure for designs is as follows:

  • A basic fee for a single design or the first design of a multiple application.
  • A reduced fee for the 2nd to 10th designs
  • A further fee reduction per design, from the 11th design onwards.

The registration fee and publication fee must be paid together when the application is filed. Where the application includes a request for deferment, the deferment fee replaces the publication fee. The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will not issue a request for payment.

You can calculate the exact fee depending on the number of designs and whether or not deferment is requested.
