.eu domain names

.eu is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the European Union (EU).

Any company, individual or organisation residing in the European Union or in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway can register a .eu or .ею domain name.

Registering a .eu domain name identical to your trade mark denomination reinforces the IP rights associated with it and prevents any other person from registering a .eu domain name identical to your trade mark.

The EUIPO uses the WHOIS database to inform users about the availability of the .eu domain name identical to their trade mark at the end of e‑filing. Alerts can also be set by users in the user area and in eSearch to be informed when a .eu domain name identical to their trade mark is registered.

Please, be aware that you need to register a .eu domain name through accredited registrars (list available on the Registry website).

The EUIPO collaborates with EURid to provide information on .eu domain names and their availability. The purpose of this collaboration is to facilitate awareness in order to safeguard the IP rights of EUTM owners.

Information is provided from the WHOIS database. The content, accuracy or any linked information, however, is not in any way the EUIPO’s responsibility.

EURid is the registry manager of the .eu and .ею country code top-level domains appointed by the European Commission. More info.

You can register your .eu domain name with any .eu accredited registrar.

By setting up an alert you will be informed as soon as a .eu domain name considered identical to your registered EUTM/s is registered.

Enter into the User Area of the EUIPO Website and click the ‘Alerts’ tab.

The option to create an alert on .eu domain names can be found in the ‘configuration’ tab.

Only one .eu domain name alert per EUTM can be created.

You can find more information about setting alerts here.

Click on the cross in the ‘Actions’ column to delete the alert
