Setting alerts

You can set a monitor alert and a watch alert from the 'Trade marks' and 'Designs' tabs in eSearch plus. Alerts can be set from the list view and the detailed view.

You can also set .eu domain alerts from the ‘Trade marks’ tab in eSearch plus, as well as in the User Area of the EUIPO website.

  • Watch alert

    A watch alert can be set from eSearch plus in the EU trade mark (EUTM) and Registered Community design (RCD) tabs. This alert is based on the criteria chosen for an advanced search by a logged on user.

    For example, if you set a watch alert after having carried out an advanced search for published trade marks containing the trade mark name 'HI' and covering goods in 'Class 12' and having obtained X number of results, an alert will be triggered when a new trade mark is published with the same criteria (trade mark name containing the word 'Hi', covering goods in 'Class 12', etc.), since the number of results will be different from the original.

  • Setting a watch alert

    A watch alert can be set from the results list section (list view) after a basic or advanced search has been carried out, as follows:

    1. To set the alert, click on the megaphone icon Alert icon displayed at the top left-hand side of the table. A pop-up window will open.
    2. Name your alert by:
      • selecting an alert name created previously via the drop-down menu;
      • choosing a new name and entering it in the text field on the right-hand side.
    3. Tick the box 'Receive alert by email' if you want a copy of the alert to be sent to your email address.
    4. Click on the 'Set alert' button.

    A notice will appear at the bottom of the pop-up window when the alert has been successfully created.

  • Monitor alert

    A monitor alert can be set to monitor specific events relating to EUTMs, RCDs and .eu domains that are identical to EUTMs. A range of parameters can be chosen to trigger alerts, such as:

    • change of status of a trade mark
    • trade mark due for renewal
    • change of ownership/representative
    • opposition period coming to an end.
    • identical .eu domain registrations.
  • Setting a monitor alert

    A monitor alert can be set from the trade mark or design detail view section after a basic or advanced search has been carried out.

    1. Click on the 'Set alert' button Set alert button at the top right-hand side of the detailed view.

      A pop-up window will open where you can select which boxes to tick depending on which status changes to the EU trade mark or Registered Community design you want to monitor.

    2. Name your alert with one of the options by:
      • selecting an alert name created previously via the dropdown menu;
      • creating a new name and entering it in the text field on the right-hand side.
    3. Tick the box 'Receive alert by email' if you want a copy of the alert to be sent to your email address.
    4. Click on the 'Set alert' button.
